Alcoholic or/and Smoker?

I remembered back in the University days, I took a module called "Drugs & Society". It was really one of those modules that you could really benefit for life and the things that you learnt about is what you would encounter during your daily life style.
What defines an addiction? I recalled the lady AP was standing right in front and the only thing that she said, "An addiction = withdrawal Syndrome". When there is an addiction, there will be some recognizable features arising if the desired item has been removed.

Well, why am i talking about this in my irony blog? Yesterday night, I was out with my usual group of friends for a drink and a harsh discovery hit me when a important friend of mine started to get drank again and even lost a nice cigarette case that he got. He feels that he could only sleep better when he drinks, he chooses to hangout with his group of friends for a drinking session instead of picking up his loved ones, alcohol runs thru his vein weekly and he started to get high and eventually losses a certain level of reaction to things, causing the case to be missing. He might not be a hard-core alcoholic but yet again, do you ever says that having a small patch of rashes is not a symptom of skin problem?

He is a really nice and sincere guy but when someone who could not do without a cigarette between his fingers and required a weekly doze of alcoholic essence, it might indicate otherwise. This is indeed an irony, an irony that he wants to shower his concern for his loved ones but then again, what kind of love could he provide? Second hand smoke? Or an unconscious mind that holding a Chivas is like the status of liberty holding on to her torch? Both doesn't help.

What should I do? Talking about it doesn't help. Proposing solution isn't heed. Boycotting only made me look unreasonable. Well, maybe, one fine day, he will learn. Learning it the hard way and eventually the painful way where nicotine and alcohol will only deteriorate the situation.

Alcoholic + Smoker = Bleakness
